How do you enjoy summer with your dog? Perhaps you like to take walks in nature together or go swimming? There are so many ways to spend fun summer days with your dog. However, some summer activities contain risks. We have put together a checklist of the most common risks for your dog this summer so you can spend the season together safely.

The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club decided on 12th March 2020 on measures aiming to stop the spreading of coronavirus, COVID-19. All dog shows, trials, and competitions as well as other events organised by the Finnish Kennel Club are cancelled until 31st May 2020. Visits made by care dogs and reading dogs are cancelled until 31st July 2020.

Finland will have the honour of hosting the first FCI Obedience World Championship in history on 28th–29th September 2024. The competition takes place in Royal Canin Areena in Lieto, a town within close proximity to Turku.

The FCI European Dog Show 2018 was held on 11th–14th October in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. More than 15,000 dogs from all over Europe, including several Finnish dogs, took part in the four-day event.  

The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club accepted cross breeding projects for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and French Bulldogs in their meeting on 15 June. In the same meeting, a decision was made to start a new cross breed register where the crossbred dogs will be registered in.

Esa Kukkonen is the new Chair of the Finnish Kennel Club for the period of 2023–2024. He hopes that the Finnish Kennel Club can develop its activities during the upcoming years so that it would serve all its members even better and become an active trustee for canine activities.
