Dogs imported from Russia and Belarus can be registered to Finland with an exceptional procedure if the Export Pedigree has been issued no later than 15th March 2022

On its meeting on 8th March 2022, the Board of the Finnish Kennel Club specified its guidelines regarding registration to Finland of dogs imported from Russia and Belarus. By this special procedure, a dog that has been issued an Export Pedigree no later than 15th March 2022 by the Russian Kynological Federation (RKF) or the Belorussian Cynological Union (BCU), can be registered with the Finnish Kennel Club.

Madrid World Dog Show 2020 to feature Finnish dog show services

The international World Dog Show will be held next time in Europe in 2020. The dog show will be organised by the Spanish Royal Canine Society (RSCE) on 23–26 April 2020 at an amazing venue in Madrid. The digital system for the entries and the online result service of the dog show will be offered by the Finnish Kennel Club’s subsidiary companies Showlink Oy and Prettybit Projects Oy. The chairs of the Finnish Kennel Club’s Board and the RSCE Board agreed on the matter on 16 August 2018 in Brussels in connection with the FCI Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting.

Finnish Kennel Club: Breed bans not the best way to go when improving health and well-being of dogs

The Borgarting Court of Appeal in Norway stated in its decision on 18th November 2022 that breeding of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels is against the Norwegian Animal Welfare Act, whereas breeding of English Bulldog may continue. The Finnish Kennel Club sees that breed bans are not the best way to improve the health and well-being of dogs.

The Finnish Kennel Club cancels all canine events in Finland

The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club decided on 12th March 2020 on measures aiming to stop the spreading of coronavirus, COVID-19. All dog shows, trials, and competitions as well as other events organised by the Finnish Kennel Club are cancelled until 31st May 2020. Visits made by care dogs and reading dogs are cancelled until 31st July 2020.
