The Finnish Kennel Club’s Board has decided to prohibit dogs living in Norway from participating in canine events in Finland. The prohibition is valid until further notice. The situation is re-evaluated next week. The Swedish and Danish Kennel Clubs made a similar decision yesterday. The prohibition is caused by a serious epidemic affecting several dogs in Norway.

The Finnish Kennel Club started its care dog activities, where volunteering dog owners visit groups of people with special needs, in the year 2001. Care dogs are ordinary family dogs owned by laymen wishing to bring joy and warmth to the life of those who really need it.
In built-up areas, dogs may not be kept off leash anywhere else but in fenced yards or places that are specifically meant for this purpose. However, it does good for a dog to be able to run around freely from time to time. In built-up areas, dog parks are the places for this exact purpose.
A strike that affects mail delivery will begin on Monday, 11th November and continue until Sunday, 24th November. The main Finnish postal service Posti estimates that the delivery of letters and magazines will be interrupted and that the delays could last for weeks. This also affects services of the Finnish Kennel Club and Showlink Oy, as well as deliveries related to Koiramessut – Dog Fair Finland.
On 8–10 August 2025, the Finnish Kennel Club will arrange the international kennel union FCI’s World Dog Show in Helsinki. The website for the show has been published today.
