The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club decided on 12th March 2020 on measures aiming to stop the spreading of coronavirus, COVID-19. All dog shows, trials, and competitions as well as other events organised by the Finnish Kennel Club are cancelled until 31st May 2020. Visits made by care dogs and reading dogs are cancelled until 31st July 2020.

An additional general meeting of the World Canine Organisation FCI has unanimously accepted new rules for the organisation in Brussels on 15 August 2018. The new rules aim to further enforce FCI’s activities by, for example, setting more prerequisites for becoming a member, and by outlining the procedure in case a member is in violation of the rules.

Scottish Terrier Quaint Theofilo Best in Show at Helsinki Winner 2023. The dog is owned by Arja Tuuliniemi. The Best in Show judge was Moa Persson from Sweden. 7356 dogs were entered to Saturday’s shows, 850 of these competed in Helsinki Winner Puppy Show.

Under the Hunting Act, the period for keeping dogs on a leash ends nationally on Tuesday 20 August. The period runs annually from the beginning of March until 19 August. During this time, dogs must be kept on a leash.
