The Finnish Kennel Club funds research: more covid dogs needed

The Finnish Kennel Club will provide funding of €20,000 in total towards research related to covid dogs carried out at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Helsinki. The Kennel Club encourages other organisations involved in activities for dog owners to join in and provide funding for the relevant research that could prove groundbreaking in terms of people’s health and keeping society up and running.

Questions and answers about the Finnish Food Authority's dog register

The identification data and owner information of all dogs must be registered in the dog register maintained by the Finnish Food Authority starting from 1 January 2023. Under the Hunting Act, the period for keeping dogs on leashes begins on Friday 1 March 2024.

The Finnish Hunting Act states that dogs must be kept on a leash all across Finland starting on Friday 1 March. According to the law, dogs must be kept leashed from the beginning of March until 19 August. The leashing period applies to areas outside urban areas. Dogs must always be leashed in urban areas according to the Public Order Act.
