Under the Hunting Act, the period for keeping dogs on a leash ends nationally on Tuesday 20 August. The period runs annually from the beginning of March until 19 August. During this time, dogs must be kept on a leash. 

Koiramessut – Dog Fair Finland is held in Messukeskus, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki, on 18th and 19th December. The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club has decided to extend the prohibition for dogs living in Norway to participate in canine events in Finland until 30th September 2019. The prohibition concerns all canine events held under the aegis of the Finnish Kennel Club. The decision is re-evaluated before 30th September. The reason for the prohibition is a serious illness affecting dogs in Norway. 

Veterinary service provider Evidensia Eläinlääkäripalvelut and the Finnish Kennel Club have made a cooperation agreement regarding veterinary services at fair and dog show event Koiramessut – Dog Fair Finland 2018. Evidensia also has its own stand at Dog Fair Finland.

The international World Dog Show will be held next time in Europe in 2020. The dog show will be organised by the Spanish Royal Canine Society (RSCE) on 23–26 April 2020 at an amazing venue in Madrid. The digital system for the entries and the online result service of the dog show will be offered by the Finnish Kennel Club’s subsidiary companies Showlink Oy and Prettybit Projects Oy. The chairs of the Finnish Kennel Club’s Board and the RSCE Board agreed on the matter on 16 August 2018 in Brussels in connection with the FCI Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting.
