More than 15,000 dogs were seen in Messukeskus, Expo and Convention Centre Helsinki over the weekend in dog shows, breed presentations, and presentations on different dog sports. Koiramessut – Dog Fair Finland offered lots of programme for the whole family. Government Working Dogs of the Year and Hero Dogs were awarded at the fair, as per tradition.

Each year, the Finnish Kennel Club awards Government Working Dogs of the Year. This year, customs dog Hessu, military dog Oikku, prison dog Hippi, police dog Sampo, and border guard dog Clapton are awarded. The Government Working Dogs of the Year have been nominated by Finnish Customs, Finnish Defence Forces, Prison and Probation Service of Finland, Police of Finland, and Finnish Border Guard.

Pharaoh Hound Bazinga Gonna Be A Mighty King from Norway was Best in Show at Helsinki Winner 2022. The owner of the dog is Simon Tien Hansen. Best in Show judge was Francesco Cochetti. 5040 dogs were entered to the show.

The Finnish Kennel Club grants the title Sankarikoira, hero dog, to 18 dogs in 2017. In addition, 21 dogs get an honourable mention for their heroic deeds. The title Sankarikoira can be awarded to dogs that have significantly contributed to saving one or more human lives. The Finnish Kennel Club awards these dogs on Sunday 10th December at Koiramessut – Dog Fair Finland at Helsinki Fair Centre. Scottish Terrier Quaint Theofilo Best in Show at Helsinki Winner 2023. The dog is owned by Arja Tuuliniemi. The Best in Show judge was Moa Persson from Sweden. 7356 dogs were entered to Saturday’s shows, 850 of these competed in Helsinki Winner Puppy Show.
