Internationally unique research done by Finnish specialists – pedigrees of Finnish Spitz traced back to the 19th Century

A project that has been going on for several years, aiming to map the history of registrations of Finnish Spitz, has resulted in significant results, also in international context. Pedigree data of Finland’s national breed, going all the way back to the 19th Century, can now be reviewed in the Finnish Kennel Club’s Breeding Database.

Under the Hunting Act, the period for keeping dogs on leashes ends nationally on Sunday 20 August. This period lasts annually from the beginning of March until 19 August, when the dogs must be kept on a leash.

Dogs imported from Russia and Belarus can be registered to Finland with an exceptional procedure if the Export Pedigree has been issued no later than 15th March 2022

On its meeting on 8th March 2022, the Board of the Finnish Kennel Club specified its guidelines regarding registration to Finland of dogs imported from Russia and Belarus. By this special procedure, a dog that has been issued an Export Pedigree no later than 15th March 2022 by the Russian Kynological Federation (RKF) or the Belorussian Cynological Union (BCU), can be registered with the Finnish Kennel Club.
