A project that has been going on for several years, aiming to map the history of registrations of Finnish Spitz, has resulted in significant results, also in international context. Pedigree data of Finland’s national breed, going all the way back to the 19th Century, can now be reviewed in the Finnish Kennel Club’s Breeding Database.

The Finnish Kennel Club accepted separate cross breeding projects for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and French Bulldogs

The Board of the Finnish Kennel Club accepted cross breeding projects for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and French Bulldogs in their meeting on 15 June. In the same meeting, a decision was made to start a new cross breed register where the crossbred dogs will be registered in.

Dogs living in Norway are prohibited from participating in canine events in Finland during 7th and 8th September 2019

The Finnish Kennel Club’s Board has decided to prohibit dogs living in Norway from participating in canine events in Finland. The prohibition is valid until further notice. The situation is re-evaluated next week. The Swedish and Danish Kennel Clubs made a similar decision yesterday. The prohibition is caused by a serious epidemic affecting several dogs in Norway.

The Finnish Kennel Club has given Special Hero Dog Awards to COVID-19 sniffer dogs Kössi, Miina, E.T and Valo

Every year, the Finnish Kennel Club gives Hero Dog Awards to dogs that have helped save one or more human lives. This year, in addition to the other Hero Dog Awards, the Finnish Kennel Club will also give Special Hero Dog Awards to the four COVID-19 sniffer dogs Kössi, Miina, E.T and Valo, who work at Helsinki Airport and have been trained by Wise Nose – Finland’s Smell Detection Association.
