Where and when dogs must be kept on leash or can be kept off leash is regulated by the Public Order Act and the Hunting Act. The Public Order Act also regulates places where dogs cannot be taken, not even on a leash.

By having your dog vaccinated, you can protect it from dangerous infectious diseases. A dog that participates in different canine events must be accompanied by a vaccination certificate, where the dog’s identification marking as well as the expiry date of vaccinations is recorded.  In dog shows and trials in Finland, the Finnish Kennel Club’s Omakoira mobile application also serves as an official vaccination certificate.
