The Ethical Committee (formerly Disciplinary Committee) can be characterised as the Finnish Kennel Club’s ethical board, which existence and judgements primarily have a nature of steering the respect for rules and, in animal protection matters, a punitive significance.

The Finnish Lapponian Dog shares its roots with the Lapponian Herder and the Swedish Lapphund. It is descended from the long-haired reindeer herding dogs that are common in the fell regions of Lapland and is nowadays a popular companion dog.

Hunting Trial for Spitz is a hunting-like trial event where the dog’s search of and work with game birds (western capercaillie, black grouse and hazel grouse) is evaluated in the terrain. During the trial, the dog must independently move around the terrain and bark at the right kind of game. The length of each trial is 4 hours. Game is not shot in hunting trials for spitz.

Official health examinations refer to examinations conducted in accordance with the instructions approved by the Finnish Kennel Club and stored in the Finnish Kennel Club’s breeding database. In addition to the official results, health information of dogs experiencing symptoms of the said diseases or dogs that have been operated or put down because of the said diseases may be stored in the database.
