DogWellNet – international cooperation to promote canine health and well-being

The Finnish Kennel Club works for the health and well-being of dogs both in Finland and on an international scale. One of the international cooperation organisations is the International Partnership For Dogs, or IPFD, which maintains the DogWellNet website. DogWellNet contains information collected and produced for the website, links and documents from all over the world on the work done for promoting canine health and well-being. The aim is to create a community of the people working with these issues and benefits from best practices and tools used elsewhere. The Finnish Kennel Club encourages all breed clubs and associations to produce material for the website.

Finnish Kennel Club: Breed bans not the best way to go when improving health and well-being of dogs

The Borgarting Court of Appeal in Norway stated in its decision on 18th November 2022 that breeding of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels is against the Norwegian Animal Welfare Act, whereas breeding of English Bulldog may continue. The Finnish Kennel Club sees that breed bans are not the best way to improve the health and well-being of dogs.
