Official health examinations refer to examinations conducted in accordance with the instructions approved by the Finnish Kennel Club and stored in the Finnish Kennel Club’s breeding database. In addition to the official results, health information of dogs experiencing symptoms of the said diseases or dogs that have been operated or put down because of the said diseases may be stored in the database.

Cross breeding is an opportunity for dog breeds where Finland is a pioneer. At best, a designed and controlled cross breeding process improves the health and well-being of a breed that suffers from difficulties – it can even preserve the breed’s existence.

Fairness, encouraging and courteous behaviour, responsibility and taking into account the well-being of dogs — these practices are undoubtedly things everyone can strive for. These good practices have been recorded in the Finnish Kennel Club’s Code of Conduct, which entered into force on 1 January 2025.
