Enjoy a safe Christmas with your dog

For many, Christmas means time together with family and dogs. Dogs enjoy spending time together with you but do not long for Christmas treats or presents. Dogs may however be interested in tempting treats and ornaments that have appeared in the house. By observing a few important things, you can ensure a relaxed and safe Christmas for both your dog and the whole family.

Regulations about vaccinations and infectious diseases

By having your dog vaccinated, you can protect it from dangerous infectious diseases. A dog that participates in different canine events must be accompanied by a vaccination certificate, where the dog’s identification marking as well as the expiry date of vaccinations is recorded.  In dog shows and trials in Finland, the Finnish Kennel Club’s Omakoira mobile application also serves as an official vaccination certificate.

Dogs living in Norway are prohibited from participating in canine events in Finland during 7th and 8th September 2019

The Finnish Kennel Club’s Board has decided to prohibit dogs living in Norway from participating in canine events in Finland. The prohibition is valid until further notice. The situation is re-evaluated next week. The Swedish and Danish Kennel Clubs made a similar decision yesterday. The prohibition is caused by a serious epidemic affecting several dogs in Norway.
