Participation in events under the control of the Finnish Kennel Club must be as safe as possible for everyone, both humans and dogs. For this reason, the Finnish Kennel Club has guidelines and procedures for situations where a dog behaves aggressively in connection with an event.

Fairness, encouraging and courteous behaviour, responsibility and taking into account the well-being of dogs — these practices are undoubtedly things everyone can strive for. These good practices have been recorded in the Finnish Kennel Club’s Code of Conduct, which entered into force on 1 January 2025.

Dog ownership entails a lot of responsibility and many duties. The owner is always responsible for the dog. Therefore, the owner has a duty to train the dog so that it is well-suited for society.

The health and well-being of dogs is the primary concern in all the Finnish Kennel Club's breeding-related rules and activities.  Our rules are in harmony with the Animal Welfare Act and the Animal Welfare Decree as well as other official regulations that apply to the breeding of animals. The Finnish Kennel Club actively steers dog breeding in the direction the above-mentioned regulations prescribe.  

Finnish Kennel Club's breeding database contains the health, test and show results of dogs registered in Finland. The system is an openly browsable, unique data repository, where you can also perform versatile searches of dogs' data.
