The Finnish Kennel Club funds research: more covid dogs needed

The Finnish Kennel Club will provide funding of €20,000 in total towards research related to covid dogs carried out at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Helsinki. The Kennel Club encourages other organisations involved in activities for dog owners to join in and provide funding for the relevant research that could prove groundbreaking in terms of people’s health and keeping society up and running.

The Finnish Canine Museum presents an online exhibition about Gitta Ringwall

The Finnish Canine Museum collects and presents photographs and material related to native dog breeds and Finnish canine culture. The digital collection is unique on a global scale. The museum is based on the Finnish Kennel Club’s work for the Finnish canine culture, which it has pursued for more than 125 years. An extensive and interesting online exhibition about the life of Gitta Ringwall has now been opened at the Finnish Canine Museum.

The Finnish Kennel Club requires parentage analysis of 15 Lappish breed litters

On 22nd November 2019, the Board of the Finnish Kennel Club decided that the parentage of 15 litters in total of the breeds Finnish Lapphund and Lapponian Herder must be confirmed by 30th June 2020. If the parentage has not been confirmed, the dogs concerned are transferred to the Finnish Kennel Club’s studbook for dogs not to be used for breeding (EJ Register).

Junior and Veteran CACs will be introduced in the beginning of 2022

The Finnish Kennel Club’s Council approved new show regulations at its meeting on 30th May 2021. The updated dog show regulations make the implementation of Junior and Veteran CACs possible. The Council also approved the Junior and Veteran Champion titles to be included in the Champion Title Regulations. Updated regulations are valid as of 1.1.2022.
