Period for keeping dogs on a leash ends on Wednesday 20 August – keep the following things in mind

Under the Hunting Act, the period for keeping dogs on a leash ends nationally on Wednesday, 20 August, and, at the same time, the training of hunting dogs can begin in earnest. In urban areas, the end of the period for keeping dogs on a leash has no effect, as the same rules apply to keeping dogs on a leash all year round.

Health of the dog

The health and well-being of dogs is the primary concern in all the Finnish Kennel Club's breeding-related rules and activities.  Our rules are in harmony with the Animal Welfare Act and the Animal Welfare Decree as well as other official regulations that apply to the breeding of animals. The Finnish Kennel Club actively steers dog breeding in the direction the above-mentioned regulations prescribe.
