The Finnish Kennel Club started the recording of dogs’ DNA test results to the Finnish Kennel Club’s Breeding Database on 15th February 2017. Initially, only test results for certain breeds and certain diseases or characters are recorded. For some of the breeds concerned, the DNA result is also a requirement for registration. A decision regarding the saving of DNA results for other breeds and diseases is made later.
The test results are saved directly at the Finnish Kennel Club’s cooperation laboratories, Genoscoper Oy, Laboklin GmbH & Co. KG and Movet Oy. The owner of the dog can order a referral for the DNA test in advance via the Omakoira member service or, if the owner is not a member of the Finnish Kennel Club, via the following address: https://omakoira.kennelliitto.fi/jasentiedot/register.aspx
A fee is charged for the referral.
