Birgit “Gitta” Ringwall’s (1924–2015) interest in dogs started already in her childhood home, as Gitta’s mother got four Fox Terrier puppies and their mother as a part of a car deal in 1932. This initiated Gitta’s life-long work with dogs.
Gitta Ringwall bred dogs, terriers amongst others, under her famous prefix Black Spot. She also had a long career as a distinguished dog show judge. Gitta Ringwall is also remembered for having introduced several breeds to Finland as well as for acting as a founding member of breed clubs. Less known is that Ringwall also was a ballet dancer and played handball in the Finnish national team.
