The Finnish Kennel Club (Suomen Kennelliitto - Finska Kennelklubben ry.) is an organisation of Finnish dog owners. With over 140,000 members, it is a big canine organisation in the worldwide scale. The Finnish Kennel Club provides expert information about dogs; keeps active contact with various interest groups in the field; and promotes dogs’ interests both nationally and internationally.
Founded in 1889, the Finnish Kennel Club is the oldest kennel club in Scandinavia. The Finnish Kennel Club is member of the Nordic Kennel Union and Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).
Shows are popular Dog shows have a long tradition in Finland. The Finnish Kennel Club has been arranging dog shows for more than century. Nearly 300 dog shows are arranged in Finland every year. In 2009, dog shows in Finland had an entry of over 193,000 dogs.
