Dog shows have a long tradition in Finland. The Finnish Kennel Club has been arranging dog shows for more than century.

Nearly 300 dog shows are arranged in Finland every year. In 2009, dog shows in Finland had an entry of over 193,000 dogs. The popularity of trials and other competitions is also increasing with around 108,000 starts in 2008.
